Privacy Policy

Effective April 21, 2026. The short version: Zone keeps your desktop data on your Mac. We only collect what we need to sell you a license and send you receipts.

Plain-English summary. Zone the app does not track you, phone home, or send your Space names anywhere. The website (getzone.app) and checkout collect the minimum needed to sell you a license and support you if something breaks.

1. What Zone (the app) collects

Nothing about how you use your Mac. Zone does not send analytics, telemetry, crash reports, window names, Space names, wallpapers, application usage, or any other behavioural data off your device. Everything Zone knows about your setup stays in your user library on your Mac.

Specifically, Zone will:

  • Store your Space configurations (names, colors, icons, shortcuts) in ~/Library/Application Support/Zone/ and macOS preferences.
  • Store optional time-tracking records locally, only if you enable that feature. They never leave your Mac.
  • Check for updates by making an HTTPS request to our update server. This request exposes your IP address and the current app version, but no account or user identifier.

2. What the website and checkout collect

When you visit getzone.app, your browser sends standard request data (IP address, user agent, referrer) to our host, Vercel. We do not set advertising cookies and we do not track you across sites.

When you purchase Zone, you go through a checkout operated by Paddle.com Market Limited (Paddle), our reseller of record. Paddle collects:

  • Your name and email address (for receipts and license delivery).
  • Payment details (handled entirely by Paddle; we never see card numbers).
  • Billing country and tax information (to calculate VAT/sales tax).

Paddle shares your name, email, purchase details, and country back to us so we can deliver your license and support you. Paddle's own privacy practices are documented at paddle.com/legal/privacy.

3. License activation

When you activate a license, the Zone app sends your license key and a hash of your Mac's hardware identifier to our license server to confirm the license is valid and is not being used on more machines than permitted. We store:

  • The license key.
  • The hashed hardware identifier.
  • The timestamp of the last activation check.

We use this information only to enforce license terms. We do not use it for advertising, analytics, or profiling.

4. Email

If you email us at hello@getzone.app, we keep your message and reply so we can follow up. We do not add you to a marketing list without your explicit opt-in.

5. Who we share data with

We keep the list of third parties short:

  • Paddle — payments, tax, receipts, fraud prevention.
  • Vercel — hosts the Zone website and receives standard web request logs.
  • Our email provider — used only to reply to support requests.

We do not sell your personal data. Ever. We will only disclose data if we are legally required to do so (e.g. a valid subpoena).

6. How long we keep data

We retain purchase and license records for as long as your license is active, plus seven years for tax and accounting purposes. Support emails are kept for three years. You can request earlier deletion at any time — see below.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (notably the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@getzone.app from the address associated with your purchase. We'll respond within 30 days.

8. Children

Zone is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top. For material changes we'll also note the change at getzone.app.
